
Lawrence C. Newman, M.D.​

Dr. Newman is a Board-Certified Neurologist with subspecialty certification in Headache Medicine. He is a Professor of Neurology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As of May 2022, Dr. Newman was appointed Director of the Brain Health and Longevity Program at the Atria Institute in New York City. Previously he was the Director of the NYU Headache Program, a position he held for the past 5 years.
Dr. Newman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society.

Dr. Newman is a past President of the American Headache Society and the Immediate Past Chair of the American Migraine Foundation. He has published approximately 50 original papers in peer-reviewed journals, written 20 book chapters, and has co-authored the first and second editions of the Headache and Facial Pain volumes in the What Do I Do Now? Series for Oxford University Press, which he also co-edits. Dr. Newman is a Co-Editor for the journal Current Pain and Headache Reports.
He earned his M.D. degree from the University Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed his Neurology Residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, where he was also a Chief resident. Following his residency, Dr. Newman completed a Fellowship in Headache Medicine at the Montefiore Headache Unit.
