
Frank Porreca, Ph.D.

Frank Porreca is a Co-Founder & the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Nuvie Bio.
Frank is the Cosden Professor of Pain and Addiction Studies in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Arizona and Investigator in the Department of Collaborative Research at Mayo Clinic Arizona.
His academic research focuses on investigating basic neural mechanisms of migraine, post-traumatic headache, and acute and chronic pain. His recent studies have explored sexually dimorphic mechanisms promoting pain that likely contribute to female pain syndromes. Frank has also studied mechanisms promoting unexpected comorbidities of female pelvic pain such as endometriosis with migraine. He is a Fellow of the American Headache Society.
Frank is also the Founder and Scientific Director of the bi-annual Pain Mechanisms and Therapeutics Conference focused on the most current science relevant to pain and migraine, attended by leading academic and industry scientists from around the world.
He has contributed to discovery and early-stage development efforts in startups, medium and large pharma, providing consulting expertise in peptide and small molecule therapeutics and biologics. Most recently, he collaborated with Pierre Rivière at Peptide Logic, an NIH-funded, discovery-stage biotech company developing peptide-antibody conjugates and monoclonal antibodies for neuroscience indications.
He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia and completed post-doctoral research in pharmacology at the University of Arizona.
